Nitric oxide (NO) is an important signalling molecule that participates in virtually every cellular and organ function in the body. NO is a gaseous free radical with a short half-life in vivo. Therefore, the levels of the more stable NO metabolites, nitrite (NO 2- ) and nitrate (NO 3- ), are used for the indirect determination of NO.

 

Biological NO is mainly synthetized from L-arginine by nitric oxide synthases (NOS). NO at physiologic levels has different beneficial functions (e.g.antimicrobial, antioxidant, neurotransmitter, etc.). In contrast, high levels of NO and its derivatives (e.g. peroxynitrite) are cytotoxic and produces oxidative stress.

 

Dysregulation of NO signalling pathways is associated with the pathogenesis of cardiovascular disorders and inflammatory diseases.

 

BQC Nitrite Assay Kit is a fast and simple method for the determination of nitrite in a wide variety of samples.

 

 

 

 

 

 

분석 원리(Assay Principle)

 

BQC Nitrite Assay Kit is based on the Griess method. Nitrite reacts with Griess reagent to produce an azo compound that can be spectrophotometrically quantified at 540 nm.

 

Nitrite concentration in a sample is determined from a calibration curve using NO 2- as standard.
