Bacteriophage T7 RNA polymerase specifically transcribes DNA downstream of a T7 promoter. 

The T7 RNA Polymerase Assay Kit is based on measurement of the RNA molecules synthesized by the RNA polymerase using a DNA template including a double strand T7 promoter. 

The assay can be performed in a 384-well plate format for tests of T7 RNA polymerase activities and high throughput screening of T7 RNA polymerase inhibitors.
